Remembering Private Nathan Brooke

Chapter President Connie Taylor acted as Chaplain at the Private Nathan Brooke grave marker dedication on June 11, 2016 at St. David’s Church Yard in Wayne, Pennsylvania. The grave marking was done by Lynne Morrison Jensen, President of the War Hawks Chapter from Stuart, Florida. Jensen is a descendant of Pvt. Brooke and a former native of the Main Line area. The Captain William Magill Chapter sponsored two JROTC awards this year. The Awards, along with a Bronze Medal, are presented to a Junior or Senior in High School in a JROTC program. Celebrating War of 1812 Veteran

Chapter President Connie Taylor and Vice President Valerie Neidich Moran joined State President Irene Walker at Gloria Dei (Old Swedes) Church in Philadelphia to honor War of 1812 veteran Jacob Jackson. The ladies participated in an annual service hosted by the Pennsylvania Society of the War of 1812 that included a wreath laying at Jackson’s grave and a tour of the oldest church and Philadelphia followed by a luncheon nearby. Jackson lived in the Southward neighborhood of Philadelphia, and military pension records show that he served as a Boatswain in the US Navy during the War of 1812. He...

New Chapter Officially Chartered

The Captain William Magill Chapter, United States Daughters of 1812 was officially charted in a November 7 ceremony that included the organization’s President National and State President. Chapter officers were inducted by the President National Jacque-Lynne Schulman, and Pennsylvania State President Irene Walker presented the chapter officers with their new charter.
