The Captain William Magill Chapter sponsored two JROTC awards this year. The Awards, along with a Bronze Medal, are presented to a Junior or Senior in High School in a JROTC program. This student must represent qualities of academic excellence, leadership, military discipline, dependability, patriotism and upright character in both speech and habits. These qualities exemplify the ideals on which our nation was founded.

Our 2016 local winners are from Philadelphia and Pottstown. Cadet Molly Ortlip graduated in June 2016 from Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown. Cadet Ortlip is also a member of the National Guard. Cadet Tina Dennis is enrolled at Frankford High School in Philadelphia.

The award at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown was presented on May 6, 2016 by Recording Secretary Heather Husband Ruseskas who also serves as the State Chair of National Defense. The award at Frankford High School in Philadelphia was presented on June 3, 2016 by Chapter Vice President Valerie Neidich Moran.
