The ladies participated in an annual service hosted by the Pennsylvania Society of the War of 1812 that included a wreath laying at Jackson’s grave and a tour of the oldest church and Philadelphia followed by a luncheon nearby.

Jackson lived in the Southward neighborhood of Philadelphia, and military pension records show that he served as a Boatswain in the US Navy during the War of 1812. He served aboard the Little Adams and the Scorpion.
