Honoring African American Patriots of Philadelphia
The Captain William Magill Chapter was honored to partner with the Society of the War of 1812 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in presenting two plaques to The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas recognizing the War of 1812-era service of two African American patriots in Philadelphia. Rev. Absalom Jones was honored for his work mobilizing hundreds of men of color for the defense of Philadelphia during the War of 1812.
